Daily Market Update: January 3rd, 2026 - The Rise of the Celestial Pokémon!

Hey fellow Pokémon TCG collectors!

We're already off to a stellar start in 2026, with some incredible price movements across the board. If you're eager to know what's hot and what's not, keep reading for today's daily market update.

Top Gainers: The Celestial Invasion

It looks like Darkrai & Cresselia Legend [Jumbo] is taking center stage, soaring an astonishing 560.9% in just 24 hours! This is likely due to the recent release of new Pokémon TCG sets and the growing popularity of these two celestial legends among collectors. With their unique artwork and powerful abilities, it's no wonder they're flying off the shelves.

Finneon #19 isn't far behind, jumping a whopping 556.2% in price. This might be attributed to Finneon being a fan favorite among Pokémon enthusiasts, especially with its adorable design and impressive attack moves.

Tyrantrum #46 is another big winner today, rising by an impressive 492.3%. Its powerful attacks and intimidating appearance make it a popular choice among collectors and players alike.

Shiftry #25 and Froakie #19 round out the top gainers, with prices increasing by 208.3% and 199%, respectively. These cards are likely in high demand due to their unique abilities and the growing popularity of Shiftry and Froakie among Pokémon fans.

Notable Losers: A Few Cards That Fell from Grace

While most cards are seeing a surge in price, some are taking a hit. Skarmory [1st Edition] #49 is one such card, plummeting by an alarming 78.5%. This might be due to its relatively low print run and the fact that it's not as highly sought after as other cards.

Lanturn #40 also took a hit, dropping by 77%. Its relatively common design and lack of unique abilities might have contributed to this decrease in value.

Level Ball [Prize Pack 1] #129 and Scramble Switch #68 are another two cards that fell from favor, with prices decreasing by 73.6% and 71.5%, respectively.

Lastly, Komala #43/SM-P is the only card among these losers to fall by a smaller margin, dropping by 64%. This might be due to its relatively low print run and the fact that it's not as highly sought after as other cards in this set.

Quick Collector Takeaway

So what does this mean for you, fellow collectors? If you've got any of these top gainers in your collection, now's the time to sell or trade! Keep an eye on prices for Shiftry and Froakie, as they're likely to continue their upward trend. On the other hand, if you've got Skarmory [1st Edition] #49 or Lanturn #40, it might be a good idea to hold onto them – but only if you can afford to.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Pokémon TCG market, and happy collecting!
