The short answer
Singapore Expo is not a food destination, and you should plan around that rather than be surprised by it. The venue’s own listing names 7 food outlets for a site with ten halls. The earliest opens at 8am; the one that behaves like a proper Singapore eating place does not open until 11am.
The good news is the counterintuitive bit, and it is genuinely good: the food in this city is cheap and it is excellent, just not at the convention centre. A one-plate hawker meal with a drink sits around S$5.07–6.64 on Aug 2026 government averages — so one night in the cheapest room on our hotels page costs about what 5 days of eating three hawker meals costs. Budget for the bed, not the food.
So, in order of what actually works on a tournament day:
- Put food in your bag before you arrive. On a nine-hour hall day this beats every app and every outlet.
- MarketPlace @ EXPO for lunch and dinner — the open-air food park outside Hall 5, nearly 30 stalls, open until 11pm.
- The foyer outlets for breakfast and for the 9pm problem, because they are the only thing open before 11am.
- Go out to a hawker centre on a day you are not playing. That is where the food you flew for actually is, and you will need cash.
How to read this page
Two things about these numbers, because both are unusual and both are deliberate.
No number on this page is a dish price we read off a board. Every price band is arithmetic over the Singapore Department of Statistics’ cooked-food basket for Aug 2026 — an island-wide government average, not a menu. Read it as the shape of the bill, not the bill. A venue food court sits at the top of a band like that; a neighbourhood hawker centre sits at the bottom.
Provenance is per field, not per row. A place’s opening hours can come straight from the venue’s own site while nobody has ever timed the walk to it. So each value below is marked on its own: where you see not verified, that specific value has not been checked by us — and “Not timed” means exactly that, not “about ten minutes”. Nobody has walked these routes with a stopwatch yet. We would rather show the hole.
What’s actually on site
This is the venue’s complete published tenant list, transcribed on 2026-10-07. It is not an edited selection — it is all of it, which is the argument of this page:
| Outlet | Where | Serves | Published hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Joe & Dough | Foyer 1 Level 2; Foyer 2 Level 1 | Coffee, sandwiches | Open daily, 8am to 6pm |
| Subway | Foyer 2, Level 1 | Sandwiches | Open daily, 8am to 8pm |
| The Local Cafe | Foyer 1 Level 2; Foyer 2 Level 1 | Cafe | Open daily, 8.30am to 7.30pm |
| Shell Select | Foyer 2, Level 1 | Convenience items | Open daily, 8am to 9.30pm |
| Bliss Garden Restaurant | Foyer 1, Level 2 | Asian, sit-down | Open daily, 11.30am to 2.30pm & 5.30pm to 9.30pm |
| TAG Restaurant & Bar Outdoors | Outside Hall 3, near Carpark D | Bar food, sit-down | Open daily, 12noon to 11pm |
| MarketPlace @ EXPO Outdoors | Outside Hall 5 | Food park, ~30 stalls | Open daily, 11am to 11pm |
Singapore Expo's own listing ends with the line "Do check with the respective F&B outlets and activity partners for their operating hours." Treat every hour on this page as the operator's published intention in October 2026, not a promise for August 2027 — and re-check in event week, when a 100,000-visitor convention changes how outlets staff a day.
Grouped into the three things you will actually use:
| Where | Hours | From Expo | Per person | Paying |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MarketPlace @ EXPO Singapore Expo — outside Hall 5 | Open daily, 11am to 11pm | On site | S$5.07–9.75 | Card OK |
| The Expo foyer outlets (Joe & Dough, Subway, The Local Cafe, Shell Select) Singapore Expo — Foyer 1 Level 2 and Foyer 2 Level 1 | Earliest open 8am; last to close is Shell Select at 9.30pm | On site | S$5.07–9.75 | Unknown — bring cashnot verified |
| TAG Restaurant & Bar and Bliss Garden Restaurant Singapore Expo — outside Hall 3, and Foyer 1 Level 2 | TAG: open daily, 12noon to 11pm. Bliss Garden: open daily, 11.30am to 2.30pm & 5.30pm to 9.30pm | On site | No sourced price | Unknown — bring cashnot verified |
Your default for lunch and dinner on Days 1 and 2. Walk out of your hall, eat, walk back.
The only thing on the Expo site that behaves like a normal Singapore eating place: an open-air food park of nearly 30 stalls, cuisines from chicken rice to Thai boat noodles to Filipino, halal options among them, and the latest closing time of anything on site. It does not open until 11am, so it is no use for breakfast before a 9am player meeting.
Breakfast, and the 10pm "I have not eaten since noon" problem. Not a meal you plan around.
Four outlets, all indoors, between them covering 8am to 9.30pm — which is the useful part, because they are the only on-site option that exists before MarketPlace opens at 11am. Shell Select is a petrol-station convenience shop, and on a nine-hour hall day a convenience shop that sells bottled water and a sandwich until 9.30pm is worth more than a restaurant.
For the dinner after the day, or for a team of four who want to sit down. Not for a 25-minute break between rounds.
The two sit-down options on site. Bliss Garden closes between 2.30pm and 5.30pm, which is exactly the window a tournament lunch break lands in on a long day, so check the clock before you walk over. TAG is the only thing on site serving a table at 10pm.
MarketPlace @ EXPO
nearly 30 stalls, outdoors, outside Hall 5, 11am to 11pm. It is the one on-site option worth planning a meal around, and the stall spread is the reason — this is a proper cross-section of what people here eat, not a convention-centre concession:
Stall names as the venue listed them on 2026-10-07. Food-park tenancies turn over, so treat any single name as subject to change — the useful fact is the spread, not the list. On halal: The venue describes the cuisine mix as diverse and including halal options. It does not publish which stalls are certified, so check the certificate at the stall.
Expect to pay in the region of S$5.07–9.75 per person, which is the wide band rather than the hawker one: a 30-stall food park spans everything from a plate of economical rice to Thai pork leg, and a venue site sits at the top of an island-wide average rather than the bottom.
The tournament-day clock
The hours matter more than the menus here, because a tournament day has three windows where you need food and the venue only covers two of them.
| When | What is open on site | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Before a 9am player meeting | The foyer outlets only — Joe & Dough, Subway and Shell Select from 8am. The food park is shut. | Eat at the hotel or buy breakfast on the way. This is the window the venue serves worst. |
| Lunch, mid-rounds | MarketPlace from 11am. Bliss Garden 11.30am–2.30pm, then shut until 5.30pm. | MarketPlace, or something from your bag if the break is under 25 minutes. Note the Bliss Garden afternoon closure — it lands exactly in a long day’s lunch break. |
| After a late finish | MarketPlace and TAG until 11pm; Shell Select until 9.30pm. Everything else has closed. | MarketPlace is the default. The 7-Eleven at Changi City Point runs to 11pm if you are heading for the MRT anyway. |
The practical upshot: on a nine-hour day in a hall, a bottle of water and something in your bag is worth more than any app on your phone. Nothing below changes that.
One stop away
Two air-conditioned options within a very short hop, both useful for different reasons — and note that neither walking time has been measured:
| Where | Hours | From Expo | Per person | Paying |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Changi City Point Changi Business Park — at Expo MRT 5 Changi Business Park Central 1, Singapore 486038 | 10.00AM - 10.00PM | Not timednot verified | S$5.07–9.75 | Card OK |
| Jewel Changi Airport Changi Airport — one MRT stop from Expo | — | Not timed | S$5.07–9.75 | Card OK |
The air-conditioned fallback when MarketPlace is mobbed, and the only thing near the venue selling food after 11pm closing.
The nearest mall, and the mall's own site describes Expo MRT (CG1/DT35) as "just a short walk" — it does not say how long a short walk is, and neither will we until someone has walked it in August weather. Individual F&B units rather than a single food court; the useful one for a late finish is the 7-Eleven at #01-15, open 7am to 11pm, which outlasts everything inside the Expo foyers.
Arrival day and departure day, not a tournament-day food run. Pairing it with the Pokémon Center is the only reason to make the trip.
Worth knowing about for one structural reason: it is one stop back up the airport shuttle from Expo, it is where you already are on arrival and departure day, and it is where Pokémon Center SINGAPORE sits (#04-201/202/203, open 10am–10pm daily, directly connected to Terminal 1). We have NOT sourced the mall's own opening hours or its food-hall hours, so this row carries none — do not plan a late dinner on it without checking.
The real hawker answer
If you came here to eat, this is the section. Singapore has 107 markets and hawker centres on the National Environment Agency’s register and not one of them is at the Expo. These are the east-side ones — the side the venue is on — exactly as NEA publishes them:
| Hawker centre | Address | Managed by |
|---|---|---|
| Hawker Centre @ Our Tampines Hub | 1 Tampines Walk, S(528523) | FairPrice Group Hawker Centre Pte Ltd |
| Blk 137 Tampines Street 11 | Blk 137, Tampines Street 11, S(521137) | Tampines Town Council |
| Blk 208B New Upper Changi Road | Blk 208B, New Upper Changi Road, S(462208) | East Coast Town Council (tenancies managed by FairPrice Group on NEA's behalf) |
| Blk 58 New Upper Changi Road | Blk 58, New Upper Changi Road, S(461058) | East Coast Town Council |
| Bedok Food Centre | 1, Bedok Road, S(469572) | NEA |
| Blks 2 & 3 Changi Village Road | Blks 2/3, Changi Village Road, S(500002/500003) | Pasir Ris - Changi Town Council |
| Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre | 110, Pasir Ris Central, S(519641) | FairPrice Group Hawker Centre Pte Ltd |
There are no opening hours in that table and that is not an omission. NEA publishes names, addresses and who maintains the building. It does not publish hours, because stalls set their own and a stall’s rest day is not a public dataset. Any page giving you a hawker centre’s “opening hours” either made them up or copied someone who did. Go between 11am and 8pm and accept that your first choice of stall may be closed — that is how this works, and locals plan for it too.
The two we would send you to first, with what we can and cannot source about each:
| Where | Hours | From Expo | Per person | Paying |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hawker Centre @ Our Tampines Hub Tampines 1 Tampines Walk, S(528523) | — | Not timednot verified | S$5.07–6.64 | Unknown — bring cashnot verified |
| Blk 208B New Upper Changi Road Bedok Blk 208B, New Upper Changi Road, S(462208) | — | Not timednot verified | S$5.07–6.64 | Unknown — bring cashnot verified |
The one off-site trip worth making on a rest day or an early-finish evening. Not between rounds.
The nearest full-size, purpose-built hawker centre on the Downtown Line side of the venue, run on NEA's behalf by FairPrice Group Hawker Centre Pte Ltd. This is where the price band on this page actually comes true. We publish NO opening hours for it: a hawker centre does not have hours, its stalls do, and every stall keeps its own days off.
Pick this over Tampines if your hotel is on the East West Line rather than the Downtown Line.
The Bedok centre, sitting on top of the bus interchange and the MRT station — which is why it is the one an east-side visitor ends up at. NEA lists the tenancies as FairPrice Group-managed on NEA's behalf. Listed under its block number because that is the name NEA publishes; signage and locals may call it something else.
Championship Sunday at Kallang
The final day moves to Singapore Indoor Stadium, about 10.3 km away in the Kallang sports precinct. Different day, different neighbourhood, different food problem — and it is an easier one, because the mall is attached to the venue.
| Where | Hours | From Expo | Per person | Paying |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kallang Wave Mall Kallang — the Sports Hub precinct, beside Singapore Indoor Stadium | Mon - Sun 10AM - 10PM | Not timednot verified | S$5.07–9.75 | Card OK |
| Blk 51 Old Airport Road Kallang / Old Airport Road Blk 51, Old Airport Road, S(390051) | — | Not timednot verified | S$5.07–6.64 | Unknown — bring cashnot verified |
The default for Day 3. If you are at Kallang and hungry, you walk here; you do not get back on a train.
The answer to Championship Sunday, because it is in the same precinct as the Indoor Stadium and it is open 10am to 10pm every day. It has a halal food court, My Kampung, run by the Yu Kee group — which matters for a Southeast Asian Worlds in a way it did not for Anaheim. The official site does not publish a walking time from the Stadium, so we do not state one.
If Championship Sunday finishes early, this is the one food decision of the trip that is worth going out of your way for.
The reason Championship Sunday is a better eating day than Friday or Saturday: Kallang has real hawker centres and the Expo does not. NEA lists this one and Kallang Estate Market (17 Old Airport Road, S(397972)) within the same stretch of road. We name no stall and quote no dish, because we have not verified a single one — the point is that the centre is there, a short way from the Stadium side of Kallang.
NEA’s register also lists these on the Kallang side, if you want the hawker option rather than the mall:
| Hawker centre | Address | Managed by |
|---|---|---|
| Blk 51 Old Airport Road | Blk 51, Old Airport Road, S(390051) | Marine Parade-Braddell Heights Town Council |
| Kallang Estate Market | 17, Old Airport Road, S(397972) | NEA |
| Geylang Serai Market | Geylang Serai, S(402001) | NEA |
Our advice for that day is eat in the precinct rather than plan a route, and the reason is honest rather than editorial: the Expo-to-Kallang journey is the one this cluster has not timed, so we are not going to send you across the island on a schedule we cannot stand behind. The transport page has what is actually known about that leg.
Delivery, and its one big problem
Delivery matters enormously to someone who cannot leave a queue, so it deserves a straight answer rather than an affiliate list. Here is what the operators themselves publish:
| Platform | Coverage | Delivery fee | Payment | Self collection |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GrabFood | Grab's own words: delivery "from restaurants to thousands of hungry customers island wide". | "Our delivery fees are calculated based on distance between the pick-up and drop-off locations." No figure published. | "Debit/Credit Cards, GrabPay, Cash, and even PayPal." Android Pay and Alipay are not accepted. Cash is available on orders below S$50 only. | Yes — order in the app and collect, which Grab says saves the delivery fee and the wait. |
| foodpanda NOT SOURCED | Not sourced. foodpanda.sg returns HTTP 403 to an automated read. | Not sourced. | Not sourced from foodpanda. Check the app's own payment screen before you rely on it. | Not sourced. |
The foodpanda row is blank because foodpanda.sg refuses automated reads, and filling those cells from somebody’s blog post is exactly the thing this page exists not to do. Check the app’s own payment screen before you rely on it.
A delivery rider does not come to your seat, your queue or your hall. At best they reach a foyer or a kerb, and you walk out to meet them — which on a tournament day means leaving a line you may not be able to rejoin.
- Singapore Expo publishes taxi stands at Foyer 1 (I42) and Foyer 2 (I02) and bus stops serving Halls 1–3 and Halls 4–6 separately — the site is big enough that a drop-off point is a named place, not "the entrance".
- The venue has ten halls across one address, so "1 Expo Drive" alone does not tell a rider which door you are behind.
- Delivery hand-off is timed: food goes cold and riders have a next job, so a ten-minute walk out of a hall is not a neutral cost.
Order to a named foyer, not to the venue, and only when you can actually leave. Otherwise use Grab's self pick-up on the way in, or buy from Shell Select in Foyer 2 before 9.30pm. On a nine-hour day the thing that saves you is a bottle of water and something in your bag, not an app.
NOT TESTED AT SINGAPORE EXPO. This is reasoning from the venue's published geography, not an observed delivery. Phase 1 legwork: place one order to each foyer during a real Expo event and record what the rider is actually told to do.
Cash, card and the QR you cannot use
This is the section that will save you the most inconvenience, and it is the one overseas guides get wrong most often.
| Where | What works |
|---|---|
| Inside the Expo | The food park inside the Expo takes credit cards. |
| Malls and food courts | Mall and food-court outlets take cards as a matter of course. |
| Hawker centres | Regular hawkers in the city largely do not take credit cards. Draw cash before you go looking for the good food. |
| Card shops | Whether a card shop takes a card is a separate question again, and we have not answered it: every shop in our Singapore directory currently carries "unknown" rather than a guess. |
PayNow and PayLah are what the person in front of you is scanning, and they require a Singapore bank account. A visitor cannot use them. This is the single most common wrong assumption in overseas guides to eating in Singapore.
Our payments page has how much cash to draw per day and where the ATMs are.
Why a restaurant bill can be bigger than the menu
Not a scam, and worth knowing before you are annoyed by it. GST-registered businesses must display GST-inclusive prices on all price displays to the public. F&B and hotel establishments that impose a service charge are excepted and may display GST-exclusive prices — so the menu can legally show you a smaller number than you will pay.
An establishment using that exception must display a prominent statement telling you prices are subject to GST and service charge. If you cannot find that statement, the prices should already include GST. The exception does not cover establishments that impose no service charge, or ones levying a nominal service charge with no genuine business reason beyond avoiding GST-inclusive display. IRAS states that failing to comply can be fined up to S$5,000.
Practically: at a hawker stall or a food court the price on the board is the price you pay. At a sit-down restaurant, assume the menu number is before GST and service charge unless you can see a statement saying otherwise.
The heat tax on walking out
Every “just walk over to” on this page has a cost that a guide written from another country will not price in. August in Singapore runs a mean daily maximum of 31.4°C against a mean relative humidity of 82%. August sits in the Southwest Monsoon season (June–September), which brings occasional "Sumatra squalls" with wind gusts of 40–80 km/h between the pre-dawn hours and midday.
The halls are aggressively air-conditioned and the walk to MarketPlace is not. That is a real reason the air-conditioned mall one stop away sometimes beats the food park outside Hall 5, and a real reason to carry water rather than plan to buy it.
What we have not checked
This page is in the cluster’s Phase 1 because most of what is missing needs somebody standing at the Expo with a stopwatch and a camera. The list is here rather than hidden, and it gets shorter after the next photography run:
- Not one walking time on this page has been measured. Hall to MarketPlace @ EXPO, foyer to hall, Expo MRT to Changi City Point, Kallang Wave Mall to the Indoor Stadium door — all untimed, all shown as "Not timed" rather than estimated.
- No dish price anywhere is a price we read. Every band is arithmetic over SingStat's Aug 2026 island-wide cooked-food averages. A Phase 2 visit should photograph three actual stall price boards at MarketPlace and at one hawker centre so the bands can be anchored.
- TAG Restaurant & Bar and Bliss Garden Restaurant have NO sourced price band at all. Neither publishes a readable menu and SingStat does not cover restaurants.
- Whether delivery actually reaches a Singapore Expo foyer during a large event is untested. The caveat on this page is reasoning from the venue's published drop-off geography, not an observed order.
- foodpanda is a hole. foodpanda.sg returns HTTP 403 to automated reads, so its fees, coverage, minimum order and payment methods are all unsourced. Needs a manual read of foodpanda.sg/contents/faq.
- Jewel Changi Airport's mall and food-hall opening hours are unsourced; the Jewel site served no directory. Only the Pokémon Center's 10am–10pm is sourced, and that belongs to event-facts.ts.
- Whether the Expo foyer outlets (Subway, Shell Select, Joe & Dough, The Local Cafe) take cards is recorded as "unknown". It is almost certainly yes and it is still unverified.
- Halal certification at MarketPlace @ EXPO is published only as "includes halal options". Which stalls hold a certificate needs checking at the stalls — a real gap for a Southeast Asian Worlds.
- Every hour on this page is an operator's October 2026 publication. All of it must be re-verified in the Phase 4 pass and again in Worlds week; the venue itself tells you to check with the outlets.
- Expo-to-Kallang is the cluster's standing untimed journey, which is why the Championship Sunday advice here is "eat in the precinct" rather than a route.
- No photography has happened. Every figure on this page is a placeholder with a written shot note, and the page says so.
