Pokémon Worlds 2027 Singapore: The Planning Hub

Changi Airport to Singapore Expo is one MRT stop. Championship Sunday is at a different venue about 10 km across the island, on a line that does not run there. Those two facts decide where you book — and this is the hub for everything else, kept current with a dated changelog until the halls open.

Changi Airport to Singapore Expo is one stop on the MRT. The East West Line runs a shuttle between Tanah Merah and Changi Airport, and Expo is the immediate next station — and Expo is a Downtown Line interchange as well, so most of the island is one change away from it. If you are flying eighteen hours to get here, that single fact changes where you book. Almost no overseas guide leads with it, because to anyone who lives here it reads as unremarkable.

Changi → Expo · Checked 2026-10-07 · official source · source — Corroborated by https://landtransportguru.net/expo-station/. No journey time or fare is recorded here — neither is in plan §2; the transport page must source those from LTA/TransitLink.

And here is the fact that undoes the first one if you stop reading: Championship Sunday is at a different venue. Days 1 and 2 are at Singapore Expo in the east. Day 3 — Sunday 15 August 2027 — is at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, about 10.3 km away in a straight line and not a same-line MRT trip — no line runs between the two, so the ride takes at least one interchange. Book a room “next to the venue” for the whole weekend and you have booked the wrong place for the finals.

Those two facts together are why this page exists. Everything else here either follows from them or points you at the guide that goes deeper — this is a hub, not a 3,000-word everything-page, because burying the detail here would only cannibalise the pages that actually answer the question. We published it 310 days out and we keep it current; the changelog at the bottom records every change we make, with dates.

Two venues, one weekend

Singapore Expo is at 1 Expo Drive, Singapore, in the East (Tampines / Changi) of the island, served by Expo MRT station. It is a conference and exhibition complex rather than an arena: large flat halls, numbered, with long internal walks between them. That is where the TCG, VGC, GO and UNITE fields play out on Friday and Saturday.

Schematic, not to scale — positions show which neighbourhood something is in, nothing more, and no distance is implied by any gap. Solid connectors carry a journey time published by an authority; dashed connectors labelled "not timed" are legs nobody has timed, and they are drawn rather than hidden so the hole is visible. Expo to the Indoor Stadium shows LTA's adult card fare and chargeable rail route distance (Fare Calculator, checked 2026-10-08); its journey time is still unsourced. No point-to-point distance between the two venues is drawn — that figure is derived rather than published, and it belongs in the text where it can say so.

Day 3 is at a different venue from Days 1–2. Anyone who books accommodation "next to the venue" for the whole weekend gets Sunday wrong. Singapore Indoor Stadium is a stadium in the Kallang sports precinct, central-east rather than east, and the trip between the two is the one piece of logistics most visitors will get wrong. We have not timed that journey ourselves yet, and we are not going to publish a number we have not measured — the getting-there guide carries every mode with its real fare and journey time as we verify them.

What Worlds week actually is

Worlds is four world championships running in parallel under one roof, not one tournament. It was announced for Singapore by Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO, The Pokémon Company at the San Francisco closing ceremony on 30 August 2026.

The four-format point is a planning point, not trivia. A TCG spectator and a Pokémon GO player are in the same building on the same badge with completely different days, and the UNITE and VGC stages pull their own crowds. It is also the first Worlds held in Southeast Asia and the first in Asia since Yokohama 2023, which matters mostly because it resets who finds the trip cheap: a huge Asian audience that has never had this event within a short-haul flight now does.

A Singapore public holiday creating a long weekend immediately before Worlds week — it affects hotel pricing, availability and crowding for anyone arriving early. If you were planning to land a few days early and acclimatise, you are planning to land into a Singapore long weekend. Our hotels guide treats that as a pricing input rather than a footnote.

National Day 2027 · Checked 2026-10-07 · our own local knowledge · source: docs/singapore-worlds-2027-content-plan.md §2 — Singapore National Day falls on 9 August annually; the Monday weekday for 2027 is per plan §2. Needs a mom.gov.sg public-holiday citation in the Phase 4 pass.

How big this is going to be

The honest version of this section is short. We have two published attendance figures in recent years, one of which is a floor rather than a count.

YearHostAttendanceNotes

2026San Francisconot publishedTBC — not published at the time of writing.unverified

Honolulu 2024 reported 14,000 attendees from 53 countries. Anaheim 2025 reported “30,000+” with 2,500 competitors — so treat 30,000 as the floor of a range, not a point estimate, because the plus sign is doing real work. San Francisco 2026 has not published a figure at all, and we have not sourced London 2022 or Yokohama 2023, so those rows stay blank rather than get filled from memory.

The planning instruction

We are not going to print a Singapore attendance forecast as a number — two data points, one of them a floor, do not support one. What the trajectory does support is a booking rule: plan as though Singapore 2027 is at least the size of Anaheim 2025, and as though the surrounding hotel demand behaves accordingly. One doubling year is not a trend, but a first-ever Southeast Asian host city with a short-haul Asian audience and a public holiday the weekend before is not a reason to expect the number to fall. Book early, and book refundable.

The past-Worlds forecast guide does the full version of this: every historical fact we have, resolved into something you can act on.

Two merch events, not one

Pokémon Center SINGAPORE is a permanent store at Jewel Changi Airport, unit #04-201/202/203, connected to Terminal 1, open 10am–10pm daily. Reopened 1 July 2026 after the first full-scale renovation of any Pokémon Center outside Japan, and stocks Singapore-exclusive merchandise. It is a separate retail event from the Worlds pop-up: different exclusives, different queues, different access rules.

Pokémon Center SINGAPORE · Checked 2026-10-07 · official source · source — Hours and unit numbers are perishable — re-verify against https://shop.pokemon.co.jp/en/shop/pokemoncenter-singapore/ in the Phase 4 pass.

This belongs in your arrival plan, not in a shopping appendix, for a boring geographic reason: it is at the airport. Every attendee lands beside it and every departing attendee walks past it again, and it is one MRT stop from the venue, so the question is not whether you will go but when — jet-lagged on arrival, or with a full suitcase on the way out.

The part people get wrong is treating it as the same thing as the Worlds pop-up. It is not. Two separate retail events: the permanent Center with its Singapore-exclusive merchandise, and the event pop-up with Worlds-branded product. Different stock, different queues, different access rules — and historically a spectator badge has not by itself been a pop-up pass. Our spectator badge guide covers what the badge does and does not include, and the promo price history covers what any of it has been worth afterwards.

Every Worlds 2027 guide

Eleven guides are live. The rest are listed with the phase they are scheduled for, so you can see what is coming rather than wonder whether we thought of it — they are not linked because they do not exist yet.

Live now

  • What the last five Worlds tell you about Singapore 2027
Every historical fact resolved into a planning instruction: how big the event has been getting, how far ahead badges have gone on sale, and what that means for when you book. A forecast, not a recap.
  • Can I even get in? The spectator badge explained
Worlds is not a walk-up event. How the interest-list lottery has worked for four years running, how badge prices have moved, what a badge does and does not get you — and why nobody can yet tell you the 2027 dates.
  • Worlds exclusives & promo price history
What the annual attendee promo has been worth one, two and four years on, why staff variants trade at a large premium to the public print, and how far apart the EN, JP and KR versions sit. Answers "should I buy the Singapore promo, and when?"
  • What Worlds actually does to card prices
A before-and-after study of the cards around a World Championships — which ones move, which do not, and whether the event itself is a price event at all. Built on our own daily price snapshots, not on vibes.
  • Getting to Singapore Expo — every option, costed
MRT, bus, taxi, Grab, Gojek, TADA, bike and on foot, for the airport run, the Expo→Kallang hop on Championship Sunday, and the hotel→venue commute. Each one with when it is the right choice: late finish, luggage, heat, group of four.
  • Where to stay: venue-first vs city-first vs budget-first
The trade-off nobody writing from abroad can see — the venue is east, the card shops are central, and Championship Sunday is somewhere else again. Three profiles, each with commute times to both venues.
  • What a Worlds trip to Singapore costs, by tier
Shoestring, mid and comfortable, broken into bed, transport, food and cards per day. The counterintuitive local truth: the beds are expensive and the food is cheap, which is the opposite of how most people budget a trip here.
  • Cards, cash and PayNow — how to actually pay for things
PayNow and PayLah need a Singapore bank account, so visitors cannot use them. Where that bites: the venue and the malls take cards, the hawker stalls and plenty of small card shops do not. How much cash to carry and where to draw it.
  • Bringing cards in, and taking cards out: customs, GST and TRS
Three separate mechanisms that generic guides blur together — GST import relief on what you bring, the Temporary Import Scheme for a high-value binder that leaves with you, and the Tourist Refund Scheme on what you buy here. With the authority link for each.
  • Food around Singapore Expo
The honest answer is that Expo is not a food destination, so this is where to actually go, how far it is, and what delivery options work when you cannot leave a queue. Useful for every Expo event, not just this one.
  • The Singapore card shop crawl
Our full shop directory, with a Worlds-week routing layer: which clusters are worth a trip from the east, what each shop actually stocks, who buys from the public, and which ones we have been able to confirm participate in the Tourist Refund Scheme.

Scheduled, not yet written

  • Cashing out while you are herePhase 3
Who buys, what the spread costs you against taking it home, and the paperwork of leaving with cash instead of cardboard.
  • Grading while you are in SingaporePhase 3
On-site booths versus a local submission versus shipping it home — turnaround, cost, and the risk of a slab chasing you across a border.
  • Card theft and keeping your binderPhase 3
Singapore is genuinely safer than most host cities — and the bag discipline that still applies at any major event.
  • Worlds with kidsPhase 3
Strollers, kid food, and what a parent actually does for the six hours a Junior-division match day takes.
  • For Pokémon GO playersPhase 3
Gym and stop density around Expo and Kallang, and where the local GO community actually plays.
  • eSIM and staying connectedPhase 3
What to arrange before you land, and what GO players specifically need from a data plan.
  • The heat, and what to wearPhase 3
August humidity outside against aggressively air-conditioned halls inside — a packing problem, not a weather report.
  • Accessibility and mobility at both venuesPhase 3
Step-free routes, lifts, distances and seating at both venues — almost never documented for any event, anywhere.
  • Day trip: Johor Bahru or BatamPhase 3
What the card scene is like across the border, and how the crossing actually works on a spare day.
  • Extending the trip to JapanPhase 3
The Japanese market is a short hop further once you are already here — which shops, which proxies, which customs consequences.
  • The side-event calendarPhase 4
The local tradeshows, shop events and pop-ups that Worlds week pulls into its orbit, fed by our community submission flow.

What we don’t know yet

Ten months out, the useful thing a guide can do is be clear about its own gaps. As of 2026-10-07, these are ours.

  • When spectator badges go on sale. The mechanism has been stable for four years — an interest list, a close date, a randomised draw, then a short window to pay. The timing has not: the interest list closed in March for Anaheim 2025 and the draw did not complete until July for San Francisco 2026. That is a four-month spread across four years, so anyone telling you a 2027 date today is extrapolating from one year. There has been no 2027 announcement.
  • What a badge will cost. Multi-day pricing has moved a lot year to year, and no 2027 figure exists.
  • How long Changi → Expo actually takes, and what it costs. We have the official fact that it is one stop. We have not timed the door-to-door journey with luggage, and we have not pulled the fare from the operator, so neither number is on this site yet.
  • Expo → Indoor Stadium journey time. The ~15 km is our own local estimate and the route needs a sourced timing.
  • Hotel rates. The figures in our hotels guide are a snapshot quoted in October 2026, which is what a room was advertised at then — not what it will cost over a Worlds weekend that also follows a public holiday.
  • Which card shops participate in the Tourist Refund Scheme. Worth about 9% of your card spend and answerable only at the counter. We are collecting it during shop visits.
  • San Francisco 2026 attendance, and any side-event calendar — neither has been published.

Nothing in that list is a reason to wait before booking a flight. All of it is a reason to check this page again rather than trust a number you read in March.

Where the official word lives

We do not compete with the sources below and you should not take our word over theirs. For anything binding — a ticket going on sale, a qualification rule, a results table — go to the source.

Tickets, qualification and official detail

championships.pokemon.com — The only site that can tell you a ticket is on sale, and the only one whose schedule is binding. Everything about badge availability, competitor invitations, venue rules and the official programme originates here and is republished everywhere else a few hours later. When a 2027 spectator badge announcement lands, this is where it lands.

Season structure and Championship Points

Victory Road — The community reference for how a season actually qualifies people. Their 2027 season page sets out the three separate tournament systems, the event types that award Championship Points, and the regional invite criteria — including that the Asia-Pacific, Japanese, Korean and Chinese programmes qualify players their own way rather than through the CP leaderboard. If your question is "how do I get an invite", go there and not here.

Link checked · Checked 2026-10-07 · official source · source — Fetched 2026-10-07; the 2027 page was already live and covers 2027 Worlds invite criteria.

The historical record

Bulbapedia — Bulbapedia keeps a per-year article for every World Championships, with the venue, the dates, the formats and the full results. It is the fastest way to check what actually happened in a given year, and it is where we go first when a figure in a news report looks wrong. We link the 2025 Anaheim article because that is the attendance anchor the forecast rests on.

Link checked · Checked 2026-10-07 · official source · source: bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net — Article existence confirmed 2026-10-07 via search; Bulbapedia returns 403 to automated fetches, so the page body was not read.

Registration and spectator badges

RK9.gg — RK9 is the platform Play! Pokémon events actually run registration on, which makes it the earliest public signal of anything: a spectator page tends to appear there before the announcement does. The catch is that there is no spectator index — only per-event paths such as rk9.gg/spectator/pokemon-worlds-2023 — so the 2027 URL will not exist until the event is created. Checking the root for a Worlds 2027 entry is the useful habit.

Link checked · Checked 2026-10-07 · official source · source — Root fetched 2026-10-07. `rk9.gg/spectator/` itself returns 404 — there is no index page.

Changelog

A Worlds page written once and left alone is wrong by March. Every substantive change to this hub gets a dated line here, newest first, including corrections to facts we got wrong.

Corrected the Expo → Indoor Stadium distance from 15 km to 10.3 km.

Our plan of record carried an unsourced "roughly 15 km" for the gap between the two venues. LTA's own fare calculator gives the chargeable rail route for the same station pair as 10.8 km — and a route through an interchange cannot be shorter than the straight line between its endpoints, so 15 km was impossible. We re-derived it with the haversine formula from the official address-point coordinates the Singapore Land Authority publishes through OneMap: 10.3 km. The old figure was about 45% too high. The same check sourced the fare for that leg, S$1.90. The journey TIME is still unsourced; no authority publishes one.

Cluster published — hub spine, eleven spokes, 310 days out.

First publication. The hub carries the two logistics facts (Changi→Expo is one MRT stop; Championship Sunday is at a different venue), the four formats and dates, the attendance trajectory, Pokémon Center SINGAPORE, and the spoke directory. Eleven spokes went live alongside it; the Phase 3–4 topics are listed unlinked so you can see what is coming rather than guess.

Event facts baselined against the 30 Aug 2026 announcement.

Dates, venues, the four formats, the prize pool and the two "firsts" were transcribed from the announcement coverage and date-stamped 2026-10-07. Spectator badge mechanics are deliberately NOT baselined — the 2027 announcement has not happened, and the badge page explains why we are not predicting its timing.

Something here out of date, or wrong? That is the most useful thing you can tell us. We would rather correct a fare in public with a dated changelog line than quietly leave a visitor standing on the wrong platform.
