Japanese 30th Celebrations Pull Rates & Box Opening

57 Japanese boxes opened: every one yielded exactly one SAR, and the 17 logged card by card also delivered two classic reprints and nine hit packs out of 20. Here are the numbers, plus what a box of contents is worth in PHP.

What Is Japanese 30th Celebrations?

30th Celebrations (set code m06a) is the Japanese 30th-anniversary release. It is not a translation of the English 30th Anniversary set — it is a structurally different product, with a 103-card base set, 6-card packs, and 20 packs per box.

The thing that matters most before you import: every box guarantees exactly one SAR. That is not an average — it held 57 times out of 57 in our sample. The English set has no equivalent floor.

The Box Guarantee

  • 1 SAR per box — 57 out of 57 boxes, no exceptions
  • 2 gold-border classic reprints per box — 16 of the 17 boxes logged card by card
  • 9 hit packs out of 20 per box — so 11 packs are bulk
  • 1 Pikachu per pack from the 30-card subset, same as the English version

That fixed structure is exactly why you should not buy Japanese packs loose. The pack holding the SAR can be identified and pulled out before the rest are resold.

Per-box counts come from the 17 boxes logged card by card; the FUR rate uses the full 57-box sample. Do not mix the two scopes.

The SAR Pool: Ten Cards, All Equally Likely

You are guaranteed one SAR — the question is which. The pool is ten cards, and a chi-square test against a flat pool gives p = 0.35: no evidence any SAR is rarer than another. Prices, though, run nearly 9× from top to bottom.

SARCard No.Yuyu-tei (JPY)PHP

Mew ex (FUR)135/103¥12,800₱ 5,078
Mewtwo ex (FUR)134/103¥7,980₱ 3,166

Because the pool tests as flat, any price premium is demand, not scarcity. Pikachu and Mew carry mascot and nostalgia value; Fuecoco and Salamence do not. Do not pay a "rarity" premium on a card that is not actually rarer.

What One Box of Contents Is Worth

⚠ Sell price is not resale value. These are Yuyu-tei sell prices — what the shop charges you for the single. Everything derived from them is a retail replacement value: what it would cost to buy this box’s contents as singles. It is not what you would receive selling them. Shop buy-back is a fraction of sell, and bulk is effectively worthless in practice.

We deliberately do not quote a sealed box price — Japanese pricing varies enormously by importer. Take your own landed cost, shipping and duties included, and compare it against the figures below. Then discount heavily, because you are a seller, not a buyer.

Box OutcomeJPYPHP
Unlucky (5th percentile)¥11,340₱ 4,499
25th percentile¥15,940₱ 6,324
Typical (median)¥21,140₱ 8,387
Mean¥24,454₱ 9,701
75th percentile¥28,400₱ 11,267
Lucky (95th percentile)¥50,320₱ 19,963

The median sits below the mean because the FUR and the top SARs form a long right tail. If you are opening one box, the median is the number to plan around; the mean only describes what happens across many.

Open or Buy Singles?

Open boxes if:

  • You are happy with any SAR — the one-per-box guarantee only pays off if so
  • You want the whole spread: AR, ex, classic reprints and the Pikachu subset
  • You can land a box at a reasonable cost against the median figure above

Buy singles if:

  • You want one specific SAR — at 1 in 10 per box that is roughly ten boxes for one card, plus nine SARs you did not want
  • You want a FUR — about 1 in 4.1 boxes, and there are two cards in that pool
  • You want the gold-border Charizard or Lugia — both ¥29,800 and drawn at random from a 30-card pool

Frequently Asked Questions

Does every Japanese 30th Celebrations box really have an SAR?

Yes. Across 57 sealed boxes, every one yielded exactly one SAR — no box with two, no box with zero. This is a structural box slot, not an average.

What is the FUR rate in Japanese 30th Celebrations?

14 FUR across 57 boxes — about 1 in 4.1 boxes, or 1.23% per pack. The Mew ex and Mewtwo ex split is a dead-even 7 apiece.

Are some SARs rarer than others?

No. A chi-square test against a flat ten-card pool gives p = 0.35 — nowhere near significant. Any price gap between SARs is demand, not scarcity.

How many boxes to get a specific SAR?

About ten on average, and twenty to be 90% sure. In almost every case buying the single is cheaper — compare the single price against ten boxes before you open anything.

What are the contents of one box worth?

Roughly ¥24,506 as a retail replacement value excluding bulk, with the median box at ¥21,140. Remember these are Yuyu-tei sell prices — what you would pay to buy those contents, not what you would receive selling them.

Should I buy Japanese packs loose?

No. The box structure is fixed, so the pack holding the SAR can be identified and removed before the rest are resold. Buy a full box or buy singles.

Disclaimer: Pull rates are community estimates from 57 sealed Japanese 30th Celebrations boxes across two independent openings. The per-box SAR guarantee held across the full sample and is reliable; the FUR rate rests on 14 pulls and retains real variance. Prices are Yuyu-tei sell prices as of 3 October 2026, converted to PHP at live exchange rates, and exclude shipping and import duties. All prices are estimates — verify before buying or selling. This is not financial advice.
