Important: This set released on 17 July 2026. Prices are only ~1.5 weeks old and have not yet stabilised. Graded card prices (PSA 10, BGS 10, CGC 10) are unreliable at this stage — most submitted cards have not returned yet. All analysis below focuses on ungraded prices only.
Market Overview
Pricing data from PriceCharting as of 26 July 2026. USD converted to PHP at ~₱61.83/USD.
Three things make Pitch Black interesting from a pricing standpoint:
- The gold Mega Darkrai ex inversion — the top card costs JP buyers ~$359 more than EN buyers, the largest JP premium of any card here
- Steep EN premiums on mid-tier SIRs and illustration rares (2.1–2.7×)
- EN base cards 80–95% below JP — supply flooding the EN market
The Chase Card: Mega Darkrai ex in All Four Forms
Mega Darkrai ex appears across every rarity tier. Here is where each version stands ~1.5 weeks post-launch:
| Version | JP (USD / PHP) | EN (USD / PHP) | EN/JP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base #46/#48 | $2.70 / ₱167 | $2.39 / ₱148 | 0.89× (JP pricier) |
| Full Art #99/#101 | $13.90 / ₱859 | $13.34 / ₱825 | 0.96× (JP pricier) |
| SIR #114/#116 | $275.11 / ₱17,010 | $298.00 / ₱18,425 | 1.08× |
| Gold Hyper Rare #118/#120 | $560.00 / ₱34,625 | $201.27 / ₱12,445 | 0.36× (JP pricier) |
The gold hyper rare is the key story: JP buyers pay ~USD $359 (₱22,180) more than EN buyers for the same card — the largest JP premium of any card in the set, and the mirror of the Chaos Rising Mega Hyper Rare inversion.
The SIR sits at near-parity (1.08×) and the base and full-art forms are actually cheaper in JP. Mega Darkrai ex is the one line where JP is competitive-to-pricier at the top while EN carries the premium everywhere else.
Illustration Rares (#82–95 JP / #85–97 EN)
EN illustration rares carry a consistent 1.3–2.7× premium over JP at this stage:
| Card | JP (USD / PHP) | EN (USD / PHP) | EN/JP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slowbro | $13.50 / ₱835 | $22.08 / ₱1,365 | 1.64× |
| Goldeen | $5.76 / ₱356 | $15.42 / ₱953 | 2.68× |
| Dhelmise | $4.22 / ₱261 | $9.05 / ₱560 | 2.14× |
| Toucannon | $3.60 / ₱223 | $6.37 / ₱394 | 1.77× |
| Armarouge | $4.56 / ₱282 | $7.97 / ₱493 | 1.75× |
| Primarina | $4.81 / ₱297 | $7.66 / ₱474 | 1.59× |
Slowbro is both the priciest illustration rare and the most-traded card in the entire set (2,029 JP sales). Goldeen has the widest premium at 2.68×.
Special Illustration Rares (SIR) (#112–118 JP / #114–120 EN)
The mid-tier SIRs carry the steepest premiums in the set. The two Mega Darkrai forms and the Gwynn SIR are the exceptions, trading near parity:
| Card | JP (USD / PHP) | EN (USD / PHP) | EN/JP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Morpeko ex | $41.23 / ₱2,549 | $108.76 / ₱6,725 | 2.64× |
| Mega Zeraora ex | $29.99 / ₱1,854 | $64.21 / ₱3,970 | 2.14× |
| Mega Chandelure ex | $20.25 / ₱1,252 | $52.86 / ₱3,268 | 2.61× |
| Gladion's Final Battle | $18.46 / ₱1,141 | $28.92 / ₱1,788 | 1.57× |
| Mega Darkrai ex | $275.11 / ₱17,010 | $298.00 / ₱18,425 | 1.08× |
| Gwynn | $36.22 / ₱2,239 | $37.36 / ₱2,310 | 1.03× |
Morpeko ex, Mega Chandelure ex, and Mega Zeraora ex all cost roughly double in English (2.1–2.6×). The Mega Darkrai ex SIR (₱18,425 EN) and Gwynn SIR trade near parity because JP collectors are bidding their own supply up on the marquee names.
Base Pokémon Tier (#1–71)
Most base commons and uncommons are far cheaper in EN than JP right now:
- Typical JP: $1.10–$2.00 / ₱68–₱124
- Typical EN: $0.03–$0.60 / ₱1.85–₱37
- Most EN base cards are 80–95% cheaper than JP
Notable exceptions where EN trades at or above JP (competitive demand):
- Miraidon: EN $1.50 (₱93) vs JP $1.25 (₱77) — 1.20×
- Banette: EN $1.73 vs JP $1.48 — 1.17×
- Rampardos ex: EN $1.74 vs JP $1.63 — 1.07×
Regional Exclusives
| Card | Region | Price (USD / PHP) | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zarude illustration rare #90 | JP only | $3.33 / ₱206 | 632 JP sales — not carried to EN |
| Mega Delphox ex #8 | EN only | $1.99 / ₱123 | Base insert |
| Mega Slowbro ex #31 | EN only | $1.94 / ₱120 | Base insert |
| Jett #79 | EN only | $0.09 / ₱5.56 | Supporter |
EN adds two Mega ex base cards (Delphox, Slowbro) and one supporter (Jett) that JP does not have; JP keeps a Zarude illustration rare that never made the EN set. EN collectors wanting the Zarude AR will need to import.
What to Watch Over the Next 4–8 Weeks
- Gold Mega Darkrai ex gap — The ~₱22,180 JP premium on the gold hyper rare is unusual. Monitor whether it normalises toward the near-parity SIR.
- First graded returns — PSA, BGS, and CGC returns expected weeks 6–10 post-launch.
- SIR compression — 2.1–2.6× EN/JP gaps on Morpeko, Chandelure, and Zeraora may narrow as EN supply opens.
- Slowbro illustration rare (₱1,365 EN) — Most-traded card; best early read on mid-tier demand.
- EN print run signals — Base EN cards at $0.03–$0.30 point to a heavy print run. Watch whether EN floors keep falling.
