Market Overview
Mega Evolution (ME01) is the first set in the Mega Evolution TCG series. Unlike a standard release, it merges two Japanese sets — Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia — into a single 188-card EN set. Pricing data sourced from PriceCharting as of 4 June 2026. USD converted to SGD at 1.28×.
Three things define ME01's price landscape:
- Both MHRs are JP-pricier — Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex both trade at ~7–8% JP premium, continuing the Mega Evolution series pattern
- Lillie's Determination SIR inversion — the most extreme JP/EN gap in the set (JP 2.4× pricier than EN), making it the standout EN buy at SIR level
- Split full art narrative — 4 of 10 full art ex cards are JP-pricier, an unusually high inversion rate that creates clear buying opportunities depending on where you source
Mega Hyper Rares: Both JP-Pricier
ME01 is the only Mega Evolution series set with two Mega Hyper Rares — one from each JP source set. Both trade at a slight JP premium:
| Card | JP # / EN # | JP (USD / SGD) | EN (USD / SGD) | EN/JP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mega Lucario ex | #92 (MB) / #188 | $269.03 / SGD $344 | $248.90 / SGD $319 | 0.93× (JP pricier) |
| Mega Gardevoir ex | #92 (MS) / #187 | $245.00 / SGD $314 | $225.08 / SGD $288 | 0.92× (JP pricier) |
The JP premiums here are mild (~7–8%) compared to the Chaos Rising MHR inversion, but they are consistent across both cards. EN buyers pay less for both MHRs — an unusual dynamic that reflects strong JP domestic player demand in the early Mega Evolution series releases.
Full Art ex — All 10 Cards
With 10 full art ex spread across two source JP sets, ME01 has a wider full art pool than any single-JP-set release. Four out of ten are JP-pricier:
| Card | EN # | JP (USD / SGD) | EN (USD / SGD) | EN/JP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mega Lucario ex | #160 | $9.61 / SGD $12 | $14.99 / SGD $19 | 1.56× |
| Mega Venusaur ex | #155 | $9.90 / SGD $13 | $13.00 / SGD $17 | 1.31× |
| Mega Gardevoir ex | #159 | $6.50 / SGD $8 | $5.99 / SGD $8 | 0.92× (JP) |
| Mega Absol ex | #161 | $5.27 / SGD $7 | $5.95 / SGD $8 | 1.13× |
| Mega Kangaskhan ex | #164 | $4.90 / SGD $6 | $5.48 / SGD $7 | 1.12× |
| Mega Latias ex | #163 | $4.92 / SGD $6 | $5.25 / SGD $7 | 1.07× |
| Mega Abomasnow ex | #157 | $2.29 / SGD $3 | $2.89 / SGD $4 | 1.26× |
| Mega Manectric ex | #158 | $3.50 / SGD $4 | $2.75 / SGD $4 | 0.79× (JP) |
| Mega Mawile ex | #162 | $3.63 / SGD $5 | $2.70 / SGD $3 | 0.74× (JP) |
| Mega Camerupt ex | #156 | $3.42 / SGD $4 | $2.37 / SGD $3 | 0.69× (JP) |
Mega Lucario ex leads EN at SGD $19 (SGD $12 JP, 1.56×), consistent with its dominance across all higher tiers. Mega Gardevoir ex is the clearest anomaly — full art is JP-pricier (0.92×) but its SIR is strongly EN-pricier (1.52×). Sourcing the full art from EN and the SIR from EN both make sense here.
The four JP-pricier full arts (Gardevoir, Manectric, Mawile, Camerupt) all originate from cards with stronger JP competitive or collector demand. EN buyers have an advantage on all four.
Special Illustration Rares
ME01 has 10 SIRs — 5 Pokémon ex and 5 trainer cards. The trainer SIR section contains the set's most extreme JP/EN inversion:
| Card | EN # | JP (USD / SGD) | EN (USD / SGD) | EN/JP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mega Lucario ex | #179 | $77.50 / SGD $99 | $209.60 / SGD $268 | 2.70× |
| Mega Gardevoir ex | #178 | $122.45 / SGD $157 | $186.16 / SGD $238 | 1.52× |
| Mega Venusaur ex | #177 | $56.08 / SGD $72 | $149.94 / SGD $192 | 2.67× |
| Mega Latias ex | #181 | $38.26 / SGD $49 | $82.11 / SGD $105 | 2.15× |
| Mega Absol ex | #180 | $29.99 / SGD $38 | $61.02 / SGD $78 | 2.03× |
| Mega Kangaskhan ex | #182 | $29.24 / SGD $37 | $59.00 / SGD $76 | 2.02× |
| Lillie's Determination | #184 | $147.76 / SGD $189 | $62.50 / SGD $80 | 0.42× (JP pricier) |
| Acerola's Mischief | #183 | $29.94 / SGD $38 | $32.05 / SGD $41 | 1.07× |
| Wally's Compassion | #186 | $11.23 / SGD $14 | $20.14 / SGD $26 | 1.79× |
| Lt. Surge's Bargain | #185 | $7.52 / SGD $10 | $19.07 / SGD $24 | 2.54× |
Lillie's Determination SIR (#184 EN) is the set's standout EN buy — trading at SGD $80 EN vs SGD $189 JP (0.42×). JP is paying 2.4× more for the same card. This is the most extreme inversion in ME01 and one of the widest trainer SIR gaps in the Mega Evolution series to date. EN collectors get this card at a significant discount versus sourcing the Japanese version.
On the opposite end, Mega Lucario ex SIR (#179 EN) carries the largest EN premium at 2.70× (SGD $268 EN vs SGD $99 JP). It is the top chase SIR for EN buyers. Acerola's Mischief SIR (#183) is near parity at 1.07× — a good option if you want either version without a large cross-regional premium.
Foil Variants
ME01 has 22 foil variants — 11 from Mega Brave and 11 from Mega Symphonia (2 JP-only foils not carried over to EN). EN foils carry a consistent premium over JP:
| Card | JP (USD / SGD) | EN (USD / SGD) | EN/JP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marshadow | $5.43 / SGD $7 | $17.00 / SGD $22 | 3.13× |
| Vulpix | $5.60 / SGD $7 | $16.50 / SGD $21 | 2.95× |
| Ivysaur | $7.39 / SGD $9 | $19.51 / SGD $25 | 2.64× |
| Steelix | $3.43 / SGD $4 | $7.54 / SGD $10 | 2.20× |
| Gumshoos | $2.27 / SGD $3 | $4.83 / SGD $6 | 2.13× |
| Bulbasaur | $10.73 / SGD $14 | $20.99 / SGD $27 | 1.96× |
Marshadow leads at 3.13× (SGD $7 JP vs SGD $22 EN), followed by Vulpix at 2.95×. Bulbasaur foil is the highest-priced EN foil at SGD $27, reflecting strong collector demand for the Bulbasaur evolution line in foil. The average top-6 foil EN premium is 2.5× — in line with other Mega Evolution series sets.
JP-Only Cards
Two foil variants from the JP source sets were not included in the EN release:
| Card | Source | JP # / EN # | JP Price (USD / SGD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Riolu foil | Mega Brave #68 | MB #68 / — (EN only) | $5.46 / SGD $7 |
| Alakazam foil | Mega Symphonia #71 | MS #71 / — (EN only) | $5.00 / SGD $6 |
Both are only obtainable from the Japanese sets. Riolu foil at SGD $7 is the more expensive of the two. EN collectors wanting either will need to import from Japanese card shops via proxy services.
EN-Only Inserts
Because ME01 merges two JP sets, it also has more EN-only trainer inserts than a standard single-JP-set release:
| Card | EN # | EN Price (USD / SGD) |
|---|---|---|
| Boss's Orders (Ghetsis) | #114 | $0.24 / SGD $0 |
| Energy Switch | #115 | $0.25 / SGD $0 |
| Pokemon Center Lady | #123 | $0.65 / SGD $1 |
| Rare Candy | #125 | $0.74 / SGD $1 |
| Switch | #130 | $0.33 / SGD $0 |
| Ultra Ball | #131 | $0.50 / SGD $1 |
These 6 trainer cards exist only in the EN set — JP collectors wanting them must import from EN sources. All are budget-priced. Rare Candy (SGD $1) and Pokemon Center Lady (SGD $1) are the highest-value EN-only inserts.
Price Signals to Watch
- Lillie's Determination SIR (SGD $80 EN) — The 2.4× JP premium signals unusually strong JP domestic demand. EN buyers have a significant advantage here. Monitor whether the JP price continues to diverge or pulls back toward EN levels.
- Mega Lucario ex across all tiers — SIR SGD $268 EN, FA SGD $19 EN, MHR SGD $319 EN. The pattern of EN premium at SIR and FA with slight JP premium at MHR level is stable. Competitive play uptake is the main upside risk for the EN SIR.
- Four JP-pricier full arts — Gardevoir (0.92×), Manectric (0.79×), Mawile (0.74×), Camerupt (0.69×). These are EN buying opportunities if you want the full art version without the JP markup.
- Foil compression — The 2.5× average EN foil premium may narrow as the set matures. Higher-demand foils (Marshadow, Vulpix) are more likely to hold their premiums.
- Riolu and Alakazam JP-only foils — Currently SGD $7 and SGD $6 respectively. These can only be sourced from Mega Brave / Mega Symphonia. Monitor import availability.
