Gundam ST14 Heavy Dominion: Full Card List & Deck Review

The O, Full Armor Unicorn, and a pile of big green and white bodies. The headline is a control deck for the month before GD06 — but the card that matters most here is a one-cost pilot, and the sleeper is a link condition.

Gundam ST14 Heavy Dominion: Full Card List & Deck Review

ST14 Heavy Dominion is the Green/White deck in the four-deck wave — see the full ST11–ST14 comparison for how the four line up. Its theme is heavy units, and it is the deck with the highest ceiling and the slowest clock.

What Is ST14 Heavy Dominion?

Big bodies and the tools to stall until you can deploy them. The two Legendary Rares sit at level 8 and level 9, the deck runs ramp to get there, and it has blockers and AP-reduction effects to survive the middle turns. It is the most straightforward of the four decks conceptually and the least likely to steal games out of nowhere.

What makes it worth attention is not the top end. It is a level 4, cost 1 pilot, and a link condition that appears on several of the deck's cards and will quietly matter for years.

A note on copy counts: every card below — name, number, rarity, stats, traits and effect text — comes from the official GUNDAM CARD GAME card database. Bandai publishes the deck size (50 cards) but not how many copies of each card a deck contains, so the Copies column is blank for ST14. We will fill it in once it is confirmed from a physical deck.

Deck Composition

Bandai built all four decks to the same skeleton — 10 units, 2 pilots, 2 commands, 1 command/pilot and 1 base, 16 different cards making up the 50-card deck. What separates them is the curve and the colour split. ST14 has the highest top end by some distance, reaching level 9 where no other deck passes level 7, and it is the only deck with cards at level 8 and 9 at all. The ramp and the blockers exist to get you there, which is also why it is the slowest of the four to close a game. It leans White nine cards to seven.

The Two Legendary Rares

The-O

Level 9, cost 8, 6 AP / 7 HP, with Suppression built in. Its effect: each enemy player's rested units at the lowest level on their board do not become active during their start phase.

The detail that makes it more than a curiosity is that it stuns every unit tied at that lowest level, not just one. Against a board of several cheap units, that locks down a meaningful chunk of the opposing side each turn. It is also indiscriminate about what it hits — if the opponent's board is entirely large units, the lowest-level unit might well be their best one. Stunning something like Strike Freedom is a real and funny outcome.

The obvious objection is cost eight, level nine, in a game where the competing top-end card draws four. That objection is fair and it is why The-O is not a format-defining card. What it is, for the month between this release and GD06, is the anchor of a reasonable blue/white control shell — both Pathamus cards, the Jupiter package, and an earlier Legendary Rare. Players who have tested it report it does well into a lot of things and is roughly a coin flip against current Strike Freedom decks.

The flavour miss worth noting: it has no Repair, so it does not combine with the other The-O card the way you would expect.

Full Armor Unicorn Gundam (Destroy Mode)

Level 8, cost 6, 3 AP / 6 HP, linking to Banagher Links. On deploy, look at the top three cards and add a number equal to the number of enemy players, returning the rest to the bottom. In a one-on-one game that is one card; in a four-player game it is three, which tells you what this card was designed around.

The pair effect is the good one. Once per turn, when it would take battle damage from an enemy unit whose AP is equal to or lower than its own, it takes none. With either Banagher pilot adding +2 AP it sits at 5 AP, so nothing at 5 AP or below can damage it — once per turn. The limitation is real: the opponent can run a 1 AP body into it to burn the trigger, then attack properly. But it means you cannot chip it down with several small units, you have to answer it with one large one.

With 7 or 8 HP depending on the pilot, that is a genuinely hard card to remove in combat.

Most units in the game specify a named pilot as their link condition. A handful of cards in this wave instead accept any pilot with the Newtype trait — in ST14, Gundam NT-1 Full Armor and G-Falcon DX both do it, and the Red Gundam in ST13 does too.

Newtype is among the broadest traits in the game. Nearly every main character from the Universal Century carries it, as do a lot of supporting pilots. So each card printed with a generic Newtype link retroactively expands what existing pilots can be paired with:

  • Amuro Ray — the most generic pilot in the game, and every new Newtype-link unit is another home for him
  • Char — his AP bonus and high-manoeuvre interaction now reach more bodies
  • Banagher Links — gains draw-relevant targets, which is a meaningful upgrade
  • Reed — +1/+2 plus effect-damage reduction of 2, an effect that invalidates a lot of ping cards, now portable onto more units

This is the least flashy thing in the wave and probably the one with the longest tail. It is also, arguably, a design decision Bandai should be careful with: handing out a link condition this broad means every future Newtype pilot and every future Newtype-link unit multiply against each other.

Paptimus Scirocco and Natural Talent

Paptimus Scirocco is the best card in the deck and it costs one. Level 4, +2 AP / +1 HP, and on attack he reduces a chosen enemy unit's AP during that battle by one for each rested enemy unit.

Against an aggressive deck that has just attacked with its board, that is routinely −3 or −4, and in a multiplayer game it can get absurd. Against slower decks it is −1 or −2, which is still relevant. The effect is at its best alongside cards that force units to rest — The-O's stun, G-Falcon DX's rest-on-deploy — so the deck does support its own pilot.

The other half of why he is good is trait coverage. Paptimus carries Titans, Jupitris and Newtype simultaneously, and filtering the card database on those three link conditions returns roughly fifteen distinct cards he can link to, before counting alternate arts. A one-cost pilot with a broadly useful effect and fifteen homes is the kind of card that ends up in decks nobody predicted.

Natural Talent is the deck's best command and follows a template this wave uses well: a burst effect plus a modal main/action. Burst gives an enemy unit AP −3. Main or action lets you choose either AP −3 on one unit, or rest one-to-two enemy units with 3 or less HP. Getting blockers out of the way — especially ones that have already blocked — is exactly what a slow deck needs, and having the choice means it is rarely dead.

Two other cards worth flagging. Palace Athene is the deploy-speed half of the wave's new trash hate, exiling two unit cards from the enemy's trash — see the ST13 guide for what that does to trash-dependent decks. And Blazing Mobile Suit Rider gives Vulture decks a new Garrod, with AP −3 that drops its level restriction once you have four or more commands in the trash.

What It Upgrades in Your Decks

The headline card is not the reason to buy this box. These are:

If you play…TakeWhy
Titans / JupiterPaptimus SciroccoAP −1 per rested enemy unit, and roughly fifteen existing cards to link to across three traits.
Blue/white controlThe-OStuns every enemy unit tied at the lowest level on their board. Anchors a real deck for the month before GD06.
VultureG-Falcon DX, Blazing Mobile Suit RiderA rest-and-shrink body, plus a new Garrod whose AP −3 drops its level restriction at four commands in trash.
Any white deckNatural TalentBurst AP −3 plus a modal main/action. Rarely a dead card.
Anti-trash sideboardsPalace AtheneThe deploy-speed half of the wave’s new trash hate.
Newtype-link decksGundam NT-1 Full ArmorA blocker that takes any Newtype pilot — another home for Amuro, Char, Banagher and Paptimus.

Is It Worth Buying?

Buy it last of the four — but buy it for Paptimus, not The O.

The headline card is the least important thing in the box. The-O is fine, it anchors a real deck for this specific month, and it will fall off when GD06 arrives. Paptimus Scirocco is a one-cost pilot with fifteen link targets and an effect that scales with what your opponent is doing, and he will still be good in a year. Natural Talent is a well-built command. Palace Athene is worth owning as trash hate even if it starts in your sideboard.

One copy is enough unless you intend to build the blue/white control deck, in which case you want two for four copies of The O.

As a deck to play out of the box it is the slowest of the four and the most likely to lose to a fast start. If you are choosing one deck to learn the game with, ST12 or ST13 will teach you more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ST14 Heavy Dominion worth buying?

It is the lowest priority of the four, but Paptimus Scirocco, Natural Talent and Palace Athene are all worth owning. The-O anchors a blue/white control deck that should be relevant for the month before GD06.

What does The-O's stun effect actually do?

Each enemy player's rested units at the lowest level on their board do not become active in their start phase — and all units tied at that lowest level are affected, not just one.

Why do people say generic Newtype links are a big deal?

Because Newtype is one of the broadest traits in the game, so every unit printed with a generic Newtype link condition increases what every existing Newtype pilot can be paired with. The effect compounds with each new set.

How many link targets does Paptimus Scirocco have?

Filtering on his Titans, Jupitris and Newtype traits returns roughly fifteen distinct cards, before counting alternate arts — unusually flexible for a one-cost pilot.

What are the Legendary Rares in ST14?

The-O and Full Armor Unicorn Gundam (Destroy Mode), two copies each.

Which ST14 cards will see play in other decks?

Paptimus Scirocco in Titans and Jupiter builds, Natural Talent broadly, Palace Athene as trash hate, G-Falcon DX and Blazing Mobile Suit Rider in Vulture, and The-O in blue/white control.
