What Is Riftbound Unleashed?

Riftbound Unleashed is the third expansion for the Riftbound TCG — the physical card game set in the League of Legends universe published by Riot Games. The set releases on 7 June 2026 and introduces 219 numbered cards alongside a new mechanic, XP, which lets champions level up mid-game.

Unleashed also debuts a brand-new rarity tier: the Ultimate Rare. There is exactly one card at this tier — Baron Nashor (UNL-238/219) — and it sits above everything else in the set's rarity hierarchy. Alongside Baron Nashor, the set introduces Ambush, Hunt, Predict, and Backline as new keyword mechanics, significantly expanding the game's strategic depth.

The headliner Legends for Unleashed are Kha'Zix, Rengar, LeBlanc, Vi, Diana, Ivern, Lillia, Master Yi, Jhin, Poppy, Vex, and Pyke — each with a Rare legend card paired with an Epic signature spell. The most competitive chase includes the Elder Dragon (Aurora deck staple) and Alpha Strike (Master Yi core).

Box Contents & Pack Structure

Riftbound Unleashed is available in the following retail formats:

  • Booster Box — 24 packs per box, each pack containing approximately 12–14 cards
  • Unleashed Vault — 6 packs plus a full-art token set (Bird, Brush, and additional tokens), an XP tracker, and a brick of runes
  • Single packs — purchased individually at game stores and events

Each booster pack contains three foil cards: one foil Common or Uncommon, and two foil Rare-or-above cards. The two rare+ slots are where Epics, Alt Arts, Overnumbered cards, and the Ultimate Rare Baron Nashor can appear. The remaining cards in the pack are non-foil Commons and Uncommons.

Not every pack yields an Epic or better. With two rare+ slots per pack, many packs contain only Legends (at Rare rarity) and regular Rares — pulls with very low individual card value. Community data shows approximately 65% of packs produce no Epic, Alt Art, or Overnumbered card.

Booster box basics

  • 24 packs per booster box
  • 48 total rare+ pulls per box (2 per pack × 24 packs)
  • MSRP approximately $119.99 USD at launch; secondary market slightly above at release
  • Printed in Japan — card quality generally good with some reported minor edge cutting inconsistencies

Pull Rate Data: 168 Packs

The data below is aggregated from community box openings totalling 168 packs across seven booster box openings from release day and release week. Multiple content creators contributed to this sample. Because each pack has two rare+ slots (not just one), the table below expresses outcomes per pack (at least one of that rarity in the pack) rather than per individual slot.

RarityObserved Rate% per PackPer 24-Pack Box
Epic (signature spells, epic units)~45 from 7 boxes~27%~6–7
Alt Art / Showcase (non-Overnumbered)~18 from 7 boxes~10%~2–4
Overnumbered (regular)1–2 per case (6 boxes)~1.7%~0.4 (≈1 in 2–3 boxes)
Signed Overnumberedvery low<1%<0.2 (rarer than regular OVN)
Baron Nashor (Ultimate Rare)0 observedunknown<0.1 (extraordinarily rare)
Legend only (no Epic or better)~109 from 168 packs~65%~16
Total Packs16824

Note: percentages do not sum to 100% because one pack can contain both a Legend and an Epic (two different rare+ slots). "Legend only" means both rare+ slots were Legends or regular Rares — no Epic, Alt Art, or Overnumbered.

Named notable pulls

  • Overnumbered confirmed: Kha'Zix, Evolving Hunter (regular OVN); Jhin, Murderous Artist (Signed OVN)
  • Epic alt arts pulled: Elder Dragon, Diana (Lunari), Vi (Hotheaded), Baron Nashor (epic tier), Rengar (Unseen and Trophy Hunter versions)
  • Showcase runes pulled: Chaos Rune, Calm Rune, Mind Rune, Order Rune, Body Rune, Fury Rune alt arts observed across openings
  • Baron Nashor Ultimate (UNL-238): zero confirmed pulls across all community data at launch
  • Legends per box: consistently 12–13 across all tracked openings, including multiple double-legend packs (both rare+ slots in a single pack containing Legends)

A second data point — the 6-box case opening

A second sample covering one complete sealed case (6 boxes, 144 packs) was opened at launch by a separate creator. Results from the case:

  • Overnumbered: 1 total across 6 boxes (Kha'Zix, Evolving Hunter) — below the expected rate of 2–3 per case, illustrating high variance
  • Alt arts per box: ranged from 1–4 across the 6 boxes; one box produced 4 alt arts alongside its overnumbered
  • Epics per box: 5–8, averaging ~6.5
  • Legends per box: consistently 12 per box across all 6 boxes
  • Baron Nashor Ultimate: not pulled
  • Creator verdict: "Buy singles. We turned $800 into one overnumbered with no signature."

Key findings

  • Epic rate: approximately 27% of packs — roughly 1 Epic per 3–4 packs, or 6–7 per box
  • Alt art cadence: 2–4 per box; community reports suggest 2 as a practical floor with occasional 3–4 outliers
  • Double-legend packs: commonly reported — both rare+ slots filled by Legends in the same pack, effectively the "worst" possible outcome
  • Overnumbered variance: the case opener expected 2–3 per case and received 1; another creator pulled a signed overnumbered from a single box — high variance is the story here
  • Baron Nashor Ultimate: zero observed in all tracked community openings at launch; treat this as an extraordinarily rare event

The Chase Cards

Unleashed has a clear value hierarchy. The top end is driven by Overnumbered pulls and the new Ultimate Rare Baron Nashor. Below that, several Epics command meaningful prices due to competitive play demand. All prices reflect release-week estimates and will move significantly in the weeks following launch.

Prices as of release week June 2026. Verify current prices before buying or selling — Riftbound singles tend to fall significantly in the 2–4 weeks after release as supply meets demand.

Should You Open or Buy Singles?

Open if:

  • You want to build toward a full master set of Unleashed and enjoy the opening experience
  • You are collecting showcase alt art runes — the textured rune alt arts appear at roughly 1–2 per box and are genuinely beautiful objects
  • You enjoy the variance and are not attached to hitting specific cards
  • You want playsets of the commons and uncommons for competitive play — these are only accessible through opening

Buy singles if:

  • You want any specific Overnumbered card — at ~1 per 2–3 boxes spread across dozens of Overnumbered options, the expected cost to hit a specific one through boxes is extreme
  • You want the Baron Nashor Ultimate Rare — this is categorically a buy-the-single situation; opening for it would cost thousands of dollars in expected value
  • You want specific Epics for deck building — Elder Dragon, Alpha Strike, LeBlanc Everywhere at Once, and Rengar Trophy Hunter are all available as singles for a fraction of the expected opening cost
  • You specifically want the Deceiver (LeBlanc Legend) or any other Rare Legend — these will be $1–3 singles; never open packs to find them

The numbers on chasing an Overnumbered Legend

  • Observed Overnumbered rate: ~1 per 2–3 boxes (high variance; one case got only 1 in 6 boxes)
  • Number of distinct Overnumbered cards in the pool: at least 30+ (alt art units, Poros, 12 Overnumbered Legends)
  • Odds of hitting a specific Overnumbered Legend (e.g., Kha'Zix OVN): roughly 1 in 90+ boxes at the unfavorable end of variance
  • A case of 6 boxes costs ~$720 at MSRP; expected yield is 2–3 Overnumbered pulls with no guarantee of which ones
  • Kha'Zix OVN at ~$60 is significantly cheaper to buy as a single than to open for

The honest bottom line: Riftbound Unleashed is an enjoyable product to open — the Epic rate is solid, the alt art runes look excellent, and you will regularly see 6–7 epics across a box. But the math is brutal for anyone targeting the top cards. With 65% of packs producing only Legends and regular Rares (minimal value), and the Overnumbered pool spread across dozens of distinct cards, this is not a product where opening boxes makes financial sense versus buying singles. Open for the experience. Buy for the specific cards you want.

Where to buy Riftbound Unleashed

Unleashed launched at $119.99 MSRP for a booster box. Supply has improved significantly versus earlier sets — multiple game stores are now selling at or near MSRP. Check your local game store first before paying secondary market prices.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Epics do you get per Riftbound Unleashed booster box?

From multiple community box openings at release, the consistent result is 6–7 Epics per 24-pack booster box. Epics include the 36 Epic cards in the set: signature spells (Alpha Strike, Mirror Image, Void Assault, etc.), powerful champion units (Elder Dragon, Kha'Zix Evolving Hunter, Rengar Trophy Hunter, etc.), and Epic gear. Approximately 27% of individual packs contain at least one Epic.

What is the Baron Nashor Ultimate Rare pull rate?

Baron Nashor (UNL-238/219) is the only card at the Ultimate Rare tier — a brand-new rarity introduced in Unleashed. No confirmed community pulls were reported at launch across our aggregated opening data. The exact rate is unknown, but based on comparable ultra-rare tiers in other card games, expect it to be extraordinarily rare — possibly 1 per case or rarer. If you want Baron Nashor, buy the single.

Why do I keep pulling so many Legends?

Unleashed has 12 Legend cards (champion cards numbered 181–203) at the Rare rarity tier. Each Legend appears roughly once per box, meaning a typical 24-pack box yields 12–13 Legends total — one per rare slot for about a quarter of your pulls. This is a known community frustration. The game's design places Legends at Rare rather than giving them their own rarity tier, which means they frequently crowd out more desirable pulls. Multiple content creators have called for Riot to address this in future sets.

Is Riftbound Unleashed worth opening versus Spiritforged?

The core box structure is similar — 6–7 Epics and ~2 Alt Arts per box. Unleashed introduces the new Ultimate Rare tier and XP mechanics, with a slightly higher total Legend density than Spiritforged reported by some community members. If you preferred Spiritforged's opening feel, Unleashed is broadly comparable, with the upside of the Baron Nashor Ultimate adding a new aspirational pull to the set.

What is the difference between Overnumbered and Signed Overnumbered?

Both are at the Showcase rarity tier (gold cube). Regular Overnumbered cards (UNL-226–237) are high-value alt art versions of the set's 12 Legends. Signed Overnumbered (marked ✦, e.g., UNL-226✦) are the same cards with an additional signature treatment — they are visually distinct and significantly rarer and more valuable. A Signed Overnumbered Jhin reportedly sold for over $1,000 USD at release.

Should I wait before buying Unleashed singles?

Based on community observations at launch, supply of Unleashed product appears much healthier than Origins or Spiritforged — multiple stores are selling at MSRP and Riot appears to have addressed earlier supply issues. This means single prices are likely to fall as more product is opened over the next 2–4 weeks. Unless you need cards immediately for competitive play, waiting 2–3 weeks post-release will likely get you better prices on most singles outside the top Overnumbered tier.

Disclaimer: Pull rates are community estimates from 168 packs across multiple release-day openings. All prices are estimates as of release week June 2026 — verify current prices before buying or selling. This is not financial advice.
