Most Expensive Colorless & Artifact Magic Cards 2026: Top 20

From Black Lotus Alpha at SGD $36,905 (PSA 10: $100,052) to Library of Alexandria at $1,360 — the complete ranking of Magic's most expensive colorless and artifact cards with SGD prices and annual transaction volume. Data: PriceCharting, May 2026.

Most Expensive Colorless & Artifact Magic Cards 2026: Top 20

Why Colorless & Artifact Cards Dominate the Top of Magic Prices

Colorless artifacts occupy the very top of Magic's price list because they are playable in any deck, regardless of colour — amplifying their competitive demand across every format. Black Lotus and the five Moxen are the core Power Nine (nine of the most powerful cards ever printed) that define Vintage and remain permanently banned or restricted in every other format. Their Reserved List status, limited Alpha/Beta print runs, and 30+ year age make them the scarcest collectible assets in trading card games globally. This page covers all three Black Lotus printings, all five Alpha Moxen, Chaos Orb, and the Reserved List lands that round out the top 20.

Black Lotus — The Six-Figure Card

Black Lotus is the single most iconic and expensive Magic card ever printed. It taps for three mana of any single colour at zero cost, then sacrifices itself — enabling turn-one plays that define Vintage. Only ~5 copies of Black Lotus Alpha trade per year globally — an extraordinarily illiquid six-figure collector asset. The $100,052 PSA 10 price point (2.71x raw premium) represents one of the highest graded card prices outside of ultra-rare 1-of-1 specimens.

Alpha vs Beta vs Unlimited

The three Black Lotus printings tell different stories:

  • Alpha ($36,905 raw / $100,052 PSA 10, 5 annual trades): Extremely illiquid. Only ~5 trades/year globally. The collector's ultimate Magic trophy. Black-bordered with rounded corners. Budget 6–18 months to find a correctly-priced copy.
  • Beta ($19,916 raw / $59,229 PSA 10, 13 annual trades): Better liquidity than Alpha but still very thin at 13 annual trades. Black-bordered like Alpha, often preferred for its improved centering consistency. The PSA 10 premium is 2.97x raw.
  • Unlimited ($14,076 raw / $29,724 PSA 10, 45 annual trades): White-bordered. Best liquidity of the three at 45 annual trades. Entry point for collectors who want Black Lotus exposure. Still a six-figure PSA 10 card at $29,724.

The Five Alpha Moxen

The five Alpha Moxen (Sapphire, Emerald, Jet, Pearl, Ruby) each produce one mana of their respective colour for free — broken by any competitive standard. All are on the Reserved List, all restricted in Vintage, and all banned in Legacy. Their prices reflect both collector demand (scarcity) and competitive utility (Vintage play).

MoxSetRaw (SGD)PSA 10 (SGD)PSA MultiplierAnnual Sales

Mox EmeraldAlpha$7,259$15,7082.16x9

Mox PearlAlpha$6,714$27,6914.12x10
Mox RubyAlpha$6,279$14,6212.33x8

Mox Sapphire commands the highest raw price (blue is the strongest Vintage colour). Mox Jet has the highest PSA 10 premium (4.96x) — suggesting an exceptionally thin PSA 10 population for Alpha Mox Jet. Mox Ruby is the cheapest, as red offers the least Vintage advantage. All five Alpha Moxen trade 8–10 times per year — virtually identical liquidity profiles.

Mishra's Workshop, Bazaar of Baghdad & More

Chaos Orb

An anomaly in Magic history: Chaos Orb requires you to physically flip the card onto the table and destroy any cards it touches. Now unplayable in any sanctioned event, it commands $7,961 raw / $11,973 PSA 10 (Alpha) and $2,625 / $6,460 PSA 10 (Beta). The Beta PSA premium (2.46x) substantially exceeds Alpha (1.50x), suggesting gem-mint Beta Chaos Orb is rare. Only ~7 annual trades for Alpha — a true collector curiosity.

The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale

From Legends, Tabernacle makes all creatures cost 1 mana per upkeep or be destroyed — a devastating lock piece in Legacy Lands and Vintage Prison. At $3,822 raw / $4,218 PSA 10 with 81 annual sales, it's the most liquid non-Arabian-Nights, non-Antiquities card in this range.

Mishra's Workshop

From Antiquities (1994), this land taps for three colourless mana — but only for artifacts. It's the foundation of Vintage Workshop Aggro. At $3,604 raw / $4,404 PSA 10 with 91 annual sales, it offers solid liquidity and a reasonable PSA premium (1.22x). A practical Vintage staple with strong buy/sell depth.

Bazaar of Baghdad

From Arabian Nights, Bazaar taps to draw two cards and discard three — a net card disadvantage that powers Vintage Dredge by discarding entire graveyards. At $2,688 raw / $3,163 PSA 10 with 168 annual trades, it's the most liquid card in the entire colorless/artifact top 20. Its Vintage Dredge application creates constant competitive demand.

Sol Ring Alpha

At $1,344 raw / $3,115 PSA 10 with 25 annual sales. The 2.32x PSA premium is solid. Sol Ring has been reprinted extensively (it's in every Commander precon), but only the Alpha printing carries this collector value due to its Reserved List status.

Buying Tips for Colorless & Artifact Cards

Black Lotus Unlimited: Most Accessible Lotus

At $14,076 raw with 45 annual trades, Black Lotus Unlimited is the most practically acquirable version. White-bordered and from a larger print run, it offers better liquidity than Alpha/Beta while still being a genuine six-figure PSA 10 card. If you're entering the Black Lotus market for the first time, start here.

Bazaar of Baghdad: Best Liquidity in the Top 20

With 168 annual trades at $2,688 raw, Bazaar of Baghdad is the easiest Reserved List card to buy and sell in this price range. Its Vintage Dredge utility provides a strong competitive demand floor that won't disappear even if collector interest softens.

Mox Jet Alpha: Highest PSA Multiple

If you believe you have a near-mint Alpha Mox Jet and are considering grading, the 4.96x PSA 10 multiple ($6,860 → $34,000) is extraordinary. It suggests a very thin PSA 10 population — any authenticated gem-mint copy could command dramatic premium over the raw price.
