Most Expensive Red Magic Cards 2026: Top 20

Why Red MTG Cards Hold Value

Red is the colour of speed, destruction, and chaos in Magic — and its vintage Reserved List cards have held strong value for decades. Volcanic Island tops the red price list as the most-played blue/red dual land in Legacy, underpinning Delver, Storm, and control strategies. Mox Ruby is the least-used Mox competitively (red generates the least blue-style advantage in Vintage), yet still commands $6,279 raw at Alpha. Wheel of Fortune was one of the most powerful card draw spells in early Magic and remains a Commander staple. The red section is also notable for All Hallow's Eve (a black/red Legends sorcery) and Invoke Prejudice (a blue/red Legends enchantment) — multi-colour Reserved List cards with high transaction volumes.

Invoke Prejudice note: This Legends card ($557 raw, 76 annual sales) was removed from the official Gatherer database by Wizards of the Coast in 2020 due to its art's resemblance to KKK imagery. It remains legal to own but has no Scryfall entry. Included here for completeness.

Multi-colour notes: All Hallow's Eve is a Black/Red card — valid for both the black and red pages. Invoke Prejudice is Blue/Red. Eureka is Green/Red. Lightning Bolt Alpha has a strong 3.7x PSA premium ($397 raw → $1,475 PSA 10).

Red Dual Lands

Red appears on three dual lands — Volcanic Island (blue/red), Badlands (red/black), and Taiga (red/green). All are Reserved List and see consistent Legacy play.

Volcanic Island (Blue/Red)

The most expensive red dual at $9,343 raw (Beta) — driven by its critical role in Legacy UR Delver, Jeskai Control, Grixis Control, and Vintage combo. Beta (16 annual trades) has better liquidity than Alpha (which is listed under blue, as the blue-dominant entry). Unlimited at $1,753 / $2,277 PSA 10 with 58 annual trades is the most liquid red dual.

Badlands (Red/Black)

The red/black dual used in Legacy Storm, Grixis, and black-red aggro. Alpha at $3,190 / $10,714 PSA 10 with 9 annual trades. Beta $1,904 / $3,575 with 16 trades. Unlimited $835 / $1,179 with 57 annual trades.

Taiga (Red/Green)

Red/green dual for Legacy RUG Delver and Zoo strategies. Alpha $4,250 / $4,931 PSA 10 — notably modest PSA premium (1.16x). Beta $2,581 / $5,100 (a 1.98x premium, actually higher than Alpha). Unlimited $707 / $1,076 with 46 annual sales.

Mox Ruby Breakdown

Mox Ruby produces red mana for free. While red is the least Vintage-optimised colour among the Moxen (Vintage rewards blue card advantage over red speed), Mox Ruby still commands substantial prices due to Power Nine completeness and Reserved List scarcity. Alpha at $6,279 raw — a notable 2.33x PSA multiple to $14,621 PSA 10, which is the highest PSA 10 value of any Alpha Mox. Beta $4,896 / $11,193 (2.29x). Unlimited $3,354 / $6,120 with 46 annual sales. The PSA 10 prices for Mox Ruby Alpha ($14,621) and Beta ($11,193) are surprisingly competitive with Mox Jet and Mox Pearl at the PSA 10 tier, despite lower raw prices — suggesting a thin but active high-grade market.

Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune lets each player discard their hand and draw seven new cards — a symmetrical effect that red exploits better than most opponents in Vintage. Restricted in Vintage, banned in Legacy, but a beloved Commander card. Alpha at $5,467 raw / $7,691 PSA 10 with only 6 annual trades — one of the least liquid Alpha cards on this page. Only ~6 trades/year globally. Beta $2,884 / $4,977 with 14 trades. Unlimited at $624 / $966 with 77 annual sales is the most accessible and liquid version for collectors who want Wheel exposure without extreme illiquidity.

Fork Alpha

Fork (copy a spell) is a powerful Vintage red spell at $1,021 raw / $3,433 PSA 10 with 10 annual trades. The 3.36x PSA premium on Alpha Fork is notable — suggesting thin PSA 10 population and strong collector demand for gem-mint copies.

Lightning Bolt Alpha

The most iconic red spell in Magic history at $397 raw / $1,475 PSA 10 (3.71x premium, 68 annual sales). With 68 annual trades, it's the most liquid red Alpha card on this page. A Commander and Legacy staple that's been reprinted many times — only the original Alpha printing carries significant collector value.

Buying Tips for Red Magic Cards

Volcanic Island Unlimited: Best Liquidity Among Red Duals

At $1,753 raw / $2,277 PSA 10 with 58 annual trades, Volcanic Island Unlimited offers the best combination of price and liquidity. It's a competitive Legacy pick as well as a collector piece.

Mox Ruby Unlimited: Accessible Power Nine Entry

At $3,354 raw with 46 annual sales, Mox Ruby Unlimited is the most affordable Power Nine entry point among the coloured Moxen. A solid option for collectors building a Mox set without full Alpha/Beta prices.

Wheel of Fortune Unlimited: Best Wheel Value

At $624 raw with 77 annual sales, Wheel Unlimited is the highest-liquidity version and offers Commander play value. The PSA 10 at $966 is a modest 1.55x premium — not a strong grading play, but the card itself is a safe hold as a Reserved List staple.
