What Is the 30th Anniversary Set?

The Pokémon 30th Anniversary set (referred to in the community as "30th Celebration") is a special English-language celebration set built around nostalgia and vintage reprints. Packs began surfacing online months ahead of the official release — the booster bundle is slated for an early October 2026 street date, with other products landing earlier — which is why leaked opening data is already circulating.

The headline mechanic is a 30-card Pikachu subset: every pack contains one guaranteed holo Pikachu, and each of the 30 Pikachu is illustrated by a different artist — a genuinely clever hook that gives collectors something to chase beyond the marquee cards, and a direct answer to the "too many duplicate legendaries" complaint that dogged Celebrations. Alongside the Pikachu subset, the set reintroduces gold-border "classic reprint" cards — reprinted vintage favourites like Delta Species Metagross, Shining Celebi, Magikarp, and Pikachu & Zekrom, each carrying a 30th anniversary stamp (see the full 30-card reprint list below).

The two marquee cards are Mewtwo ex and Mew ex, both "FUR" cards illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN (Yoshin Nishi) — a departure into digital fine-art that has proven divisive but is clearly the set's statement piece. The day/night Pikachu ex FUR promos are tied to the two Ultra Premium Collections rather than dropping in every pack.

The English base set runs to 128 cards (the Japanese base set is smaller at 103), with secret rares extending the numbering higher — the Maushold Illustration Rare confirmed from leaks is numbered 146/128. The rarity ladder observed so far runs from the guaranteed holo Pikachu through standard ex, gold-border classic reprints, Illustration Rares (IR), Special Illustration Rares (SIR), and the FUR cards at the top.

Products & Pack Structure

An English pack is 5 cards, one of which is always a holo Pikachu from the 30-card subset. There are 19 English products confirmed to contain 30th Celebration packs — an unusually sprawling lineup, releasing on staggered dates. The main ones:

• Booster Bundle — the main widely-available sealed product; early October 2026 street date
• Ultra Premium Collections (×2) — a Day UPC (Espeon; Pikachu ex FUR + Espeon ex promos) and a Night UPC (Umbreon; night Pikachu ex FUR + Umbreon ex promos). Each contains 29 booster packs plus one special "classic collection pack" that guarantees three of the 30th reprint cards, at a $180 USD RRP — effectively the "booster box" of this set. Note: the classic collection pack is UPC-exclusive and doesn't drop until November 2026.
• Binder Collection — roughly $29.99 RRP, bundled with 5 packs (the source of two of our binder openings below)
• ex Boxes — Greninja ex Box and Sylveon ex Box, plus a Sylveon ex Tin
• Ditto Premium Collection — 8 packs plus a Ditto promo (a product type usually reserved for Japan)

Every pack contains one guaranteed holo Pikachu plus a chance at a secondary hit (a standard ex, a gold-border classic reprint, an IR, an SIR, or a FUR). The official booster-box / booster-bundle pack count is still unconfirmed pre-release, so — unlike our other pull rate guides — we express rates here per pack and per 10 packs rather than per box. We will switch to per-box figures once the configuration is confirmed.

Sealed product prices (early TCGplayer market)

These are early sealed-product market prices from TCGplayer (August 2026), before wide release. They are running well above RRP across the board — the binder collection alone (≈$29.99 RRP) is trading around $68, and the two UPCs ($180 RRP each) are near $500 — which is exactly the pre-release scalping the leaks have been feeding. Note the standalone Classic Collection Pack at ~$192 — the guaranteed-reprint pack is trading as its own sealed item, so you do not have to buy a full UPC to chase the reprints. The single loose pack at ~$20 also implies a steep per-pack cost if you are ripping for hits.

The 267 packs in this early sample came from three large leaked openings (~100, 76 and 58 packs), two smaller leaked booster openings, and three binder-collection openings:

The 30 Classic Reprint Cards

The reprint subset is the nostalgia core of the set — 30 influential cards pulled from across TCG history, each re-stamped for the 30th anniversary. On the English release these retain their original set numbers (rather than being renumbered into the 128-card set), which matters for expanded-format players since they function as the original cards. Speculated full list from the Japanese reveal, oldest to newest:

That is 29 named cards plus the Darkrai & Cresselia LEGEND pair (two halves that some count separately) for a total of 30. Card names are transcribed from the fast-cut Japanese reveal and remain speculative until the English checklist is official. Expected standouts for collectors: Charizard, Gengar Prime, Shining Celebi, Crystal Lugia, Scizor ex, and the oddball Magikarp AR — the last of which has zero competitive relevance and looks like a pure collector curveball.

The Classic Collection Pack (three guaranteed reprints)

The Classic Collection Pack is a special sealed pack built entirely around the reprint subset above. A normal 30th Celebration pack gives you one guaranteed holo Pikachu and only a rare shot at a single gold-border classic reprint (roughly 10% of packs in our sample). The Classic Collection Pack skips all of that: it contains three cards drawn from the 30-card Classic Collection subset, and — as observed in openings — all three are reprints. There is no Pikachu slot, no standard ex, no IR filler; every one of the three cards is a re-stamped classic carrying the 30th anniversary logo. That makes it the one guaranteed route to the reprints without grinding standard packs at ~10% per pack.

It originally shipped as a UPC exclusive — one Classic Collection Pack sits inside each Ultra Premium Collection alongside 29 regular booster packs — and does not drop on its own until November 2026. It is now also changing hands as a standalone sealed item: recent market pricing sits around $268.58, well above the ~$192 August snapshot in the sealed-product table above, which shows how hard the guaranteed-reprint hook is being bid up pre-release. Because all three cards are pulled at random from a fixed 30-card pool, you are effectively paying a premium for three random reprints — great if you just want a guaranteed slice of nostalgia, poor value if you are chasing one specific card (Charizard, Gengar Prime, Crystal Lugia), which will almost always be cheaper bought as a single.

Pull Rate Data: 267 Packs

The table below categorises each pack by its secondary hit — the notable card beyond the guaranteed holo Pikachu that every pack contains. Rows sum to all 267 packs. With three large leaked openings now folded in, the middle of the distribution (standard ex, IR, classic reprint) is reasonably stable; the SIR line now rests on 14 pulls and the FUR line on two (one Mewtwo ex, one Mew ex), so treat those two rows as the least settled figures.

*The 14 SIRs are spread across many openings rather than a single lucky streak, so ~5% is far more trustworthy than our earliest sample suggested — but hitting a specific named SIR (the set has a dozen-plus) remains much rarer than the headline rate. Separately, both YOSHIROTTEN FUR cards — Mewtwo ex and Mew ex, the top of the set — have now been pulled, two FUR across all openings (1 in 134, ~0.7%), with the rumoured Mew (Red/Green/Blue) grails said to sit near 1 in 20,000. A guaranteed holo Pikachu appears in 100% of packs and is not counted as a "secondary hit" above.

Rarer still are the rumoured Mew (Red/Green/Blue) cards, said to sit near 1 in 20,000.

The Chase Cards: YOSHIROTTEN FUR, Pikachu ex & Gold-Border Reprints

The chase in this set splits three ways: the YOSHIROTTEN FUR cards (Mewtwo ex & Mew ex — the marquee digital-art pieces), the alternate-art Pikachu ex and other SIRs, and the nostalgia-driven gold-border classic reprints. Note that the much-hyped day/night Pikachu ex FUR pair are UPC promos (Day = Espeon UPC, Night = Umbreon UPC) rather than everyday pack pulls, though an in-pack Pikachu ex SIR did surface in the leaks. Because the set has barely released, singles are largely not trading yet, so the card prices below are marked TBC (pre-release) rather than guessed at. Sealed product, however, is trading — the Booster Bundle sits around $93.87 on TCGplayer and a single loose pack around $20 (see the sealed-product price table above). Both are inflated pre-release and expected to soften at launch.

Prices are intentionally left as TBC because the set has effectively not released — most singles are not yet trading, and quoting invented figures would be worse than quoting none. We will populate this table with launch-week prices as the market forms.

Japanese Version (Mega Expansion Pack 30th)

The Japanese release is called Mega Expansion Pack 30th, and it differs from the English 30th Celebration in a few ways worth knowing before importing:

• Smaller base set: 103 cards vs the English 128
• Six-card packs (vs five in English), still with one guaranteed Pikachu
• Retail pricing: ¥360 per pack, ¥7,200 per box — positioned as the most expensive Japanese booster box ever
• Fixed box hit rates: Japanese boxes typically guarantee ~3 art rares per box plus one SR-or-greater — more predictable than the English random-hit structure, and a reason not to open loose single packs (hits are easily filtered out)

Japanese-exclusive products include the 30th Celebration Futuristic Box (¥27,500, two YOSHIROTTEN promos, no 30th packs — likely printed-to-demand, so expect a tame secondary price), the 30th Celebration Premium Deck Set (¥6,200, connecting Espeon & Umbreon special-art promos by Rend — expected to be the hardest product to get and the most scalped), and Japan's First Partner Illustration Collection (¥1,200, two packs + three promos, mid-October) which is strong value and therefore a scalper target. Knowing these retail figures is the best defence against rip-and-ship markups when the set goes worldwide.

Should You Open or Buy Singles?

Open if:

• You want the guaranteed holo Pikachu experience — every pack gives you at least one, and the multiple artworks make base-set collecting fun
• You enjoy the gamble and are comfortable that just under half of packs give only the Pikachu
• You want a shot at the gold-border classic reprints from standard packs without buying a UPC
• You are building the base holo set and want the reverse/holo Pikachu variants

Buy singles if:

• You specifically want a Pikachu ex SIR or Gengar ex SIR — the expected cost to pull a named SIR through packs will far exceed the single

• Observed SIR rate: 14 in 267 packs (~5%, ~1 in 19) — spread across many openings rather than one lucky run, so the rate is fairly reliable, though the per-card rate is thin because the set has a dozen-plus SIRs

The honest bottom line: The guaranteed holo Pikachu is a genuinely fun hook and makes every pack feel like it did something — but that Pikachu is the floor, not the prize, and just under half of packs give you nothing else. The most common thing you actually pull on top is a standard ex (~21%), not a chase card; the SIR rate settled near 5% once a larger sample landed — better than the earliest "one lucky run" data, but spread thinly across a dozen-plus SIRs, and the top-tier YOSHIROTTEN FUR pair showed up just twice in 267 packs. Open the 30th Anniversary set for the Pikachu experience and the nostalgia, not as a route to the chase cards. If you want a specific Pikachu ex SIR or a classic reprint, singles will almost certainly be cheaper than opening for them.

The top-tier FUR is rarer still: both YOSHIROTTEN cards (Mewtwo ex and Mew ex) have now appeared, two across all 267 packs (~0.7%), and the rumoured Mew (Red/Green/Blue) grails are said to sit near 1 in 20,000.

When does the 30th Anniversary set release?

Packs have already leaked ahead of launch. The Booster Bundle carries an early October 2026 street date, with other products releasing earlier (and the UPC-exclusive Classic Collection Pack not until November 2026).
